Hours: 40-hour, Monday - Friday, weekends as needed, primarily days, off shifts as needed $53.00 - $71.31 Under the direction of the Director the Manager of Watkins 2/Float Pool, the Nurse Manager is accountable for the assessment, planning, coordinating and evaluating of daily departmental operations to ensure the delivery of optimal patient care, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Nurse Manager assures adherence to Heywood Healthcare’s policies and procedures and is responsible for the quality of care provided to the patients and for the processes that lead to continuous performance improvement. The Nurse Manager participates in planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of systems to support and enhance the competence, autonomy, and accountability of the nursing staff. The Nurse Manager performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities to assure optimal patient flow and satisfaction. This role includes clinical practice, staff development, leadership and collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to support the philosophy, goals and objectives of the organization. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: creating monthly staffing schedule, daily staffing assignments, payroll preparation, evaluations of direct care staff and orientees, monitoring quality of nursing patient care and regulatory compliance, patient satisfaction, and serving as a clinical nursing resource.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years Med-Surg/Telemetry experience required
  • Current MA nursing license.
  • Current AHA ACLS required.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN is preferred
  • 5 years experience is preferred.
  • Previous charge nurse, supervisor, and/or leadership experience is preferred.

  • Develops mechanisms to assess response to nursing care from patients and families; consults with patient/families as necessary.
  • Validates that care provided to patients is consistent with identified medical regimens, nursing plan of care, and is responsive to patient and family expectations.
  • Assumes accountability for remaining current regarding standards of care established by the profession, research findings, regulatory bodies, and government, and is able to determine, translate, and implement relevant implications for specific unit(s) of responsibility.
  • Ensures that nursing practice is consistent with current standards, regulations, and government standards of care.
  • Ensures staffing meet demand, adjusting as necessary for changes in workload, while meeting target productivity.
  • Selects, hires, evaluates, and counsels staff.
  • Justifies staffing cost/patient day variances and implements strategies to reduce as appropriate.
  • Monitors supply expense, justifies variance, and implements strategies to reduce cost/patient day as appropriate.
  • Participates on multi-disciplinary committee, such as Pain Management Committee and Procut Evaluation.
  • Coordinates data collection, statistics, and performance improvement activities.
  • Responsible for obtaining supporting information and completing required documentation related to medication reconciliation for use by the Attending MD.
