About The Position

University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Nurse Manager to work with our Endoscopy Department and our Digestive Health Clinic. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS The nurse manager is responsible for managing all day-to-day and operational functions of the 24/7 UWMC-Montlake Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Department, including organization and planning of the services provided by the unit, and for the operations and services of the UWMC-Montlake Digestive Health Clinic. The Nurse Manager provides leadership, makes decisions, sets goals, and assures that quality, performance and production standards are maintained, and works closely with service line leadership ensuring protocols, processes, and equipment are standardized across all locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master's preferred
  • Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State
  • 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting, including at least 1 year of lead/management/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide dynamic leadership to a team of 60+ staff including RNs, MAs, PSSs, PCCs and supervisor positions
  • Support 7 procedure rooms providing Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy inpatient and outpatient procedures, and a 6-exam room clinic
  • Works in concert with other leaders across the service line and actively participates with performance improvement initiatives, workflow analysis, and uses data to help inform decisions
  • Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and teamwork through coaching, mentorship, and shared leadership
  • Ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care consistent with current best practices
  • Monitor patient flow, throughput, and resource utilization to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accrediting bodies’ regulations
  • Lead and participate in quality initiatives, performance improvement efforts, and root cause analyses
  • Support onboarding, education, and continuous learning
  • Counsel employees and utilize the disciplinary process when appropriate
  • Promote a culture of safety by actively identifying risks, addressing patient and staff concerns, and participating in incident investigations
  • Monitor department budget, and manage staffing ratios, supply usage, and equipment needs
  • Propose cost-effective strategies that support quality patient care
  • Serve as a liaison between frontline staff, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
