As one of the top-ranked kidney care programs in the nation, the Division of Pediatric Nephrology at Children’s Mercy provides family-centered care for children and teens with kidney and urinary tract disorders. Our leadership in innovative research projects—like CKiD, the largest study of children with chronic kidney disease in North America—is actively improving the way we care for kids. Conditions treated in clinic: Acute kidney injury (renal failure) Chronic kidney disease Disorders of mineral metabolism End-stage renal disease Enuresis (also known as bedwetting) Fluid and electrolyte imbalance Glomerulonephritis Hematuria/proteinuria Hypercalciuria Hypertension Kidney injuries Kidney transplantation Metabolic bone disease/osteoporosis Nephrotic Syndrome Renal tubular disorders Urinary tract infection and abnormalities Urolithiasis Voiding disorders The Nurse Manager leads the clinic including personnel and fiscal management and development of programs and services. Participates in department and hospital performance improvement activities. Provides family centered patient care that is based in scientific theory and is outcome focused. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree of Nursing required and 1-2 years experience
  • At least 12 months of experience in clinical nursing.
  • Master's Degree of Nursing preferred and 1-2 years experience
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Employee must obtain KS or MO Multistate license within 30 days of hire
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Director) Required Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Personnel management.
  • Comprehensive unit management and development of programs and services.
  • Participates in department and organization performance improvement activities.
  • Fiscal management and accountability.
  • Actively participates and provides leadership for education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care for the patient/family which promotes optimal patient outcomes.
