About The Position

Supervises and delegates nursing care to members of the health care team. May perform care based on staffing needs. Functions within legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates patient care services. Individual(s) in this position generally assist the Assistant Director of Nurses. Provides supervision and direction to subordinate nursing staff to ensure a safe, efficient, and professional environment. Ensures nursing staff are properly educated and supervised to perform job functions. Monitors communication of patient data using Electronic Health Record to support decision making for delivery of optimal patient care. Investigate quality of care concerns. Medication delivery. Conducts departmental staff meetings. Responsible for nursing service aspects of Quality Improvement, ORA, ATC and other audit surveys. Maintains files verifying nursing licenses are current of all nursing staff. Conducts annual core competency training and skills fair. Ensures staff appropriately documents care provided and patient's response to care in a timely manner. Supports evidence based practice in all aspects of patient care. Implements corrective action as required. Maintains oversight of all medication delivery, documentation and accountability. Meetings are conducted on a monthly basis to discuss pertinent issues, along with an educational component. Minutes are forwarded to the Director of Nursing Services. Ensures audit information is submitted by required deadlines. Investigates and implements corrective actions as required. Requirements

Graduate from an approved accredited nursing program.
Current license as a Registered Nurse as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or have the ability to transfer RN license to Texas.
CPR certified.
At least four years related experience.
