Requirements

  • Valid State RN License required.
  • Three to five years experience including supervisory experience required.
  • BSN or enrollment in BSN program required.
  • Certified BLS before hire date required.
  • Certified ACLS within the first 6 months of employment required.

Nice To Haves

  • Trauma, med-surg, stepdown, neuro or acute care unit manager or supervisor experience preferred.
  • CRRN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct assigned nursing personnel, serving as a resource person and consultant to ensure the plan of care for the patient population.
  • Provide and oversee patient care, implementing hospital and department philosophy and objectives.
  • Provide leadership during times of crisis to assure continuity of care and a productive work environment.
  • Maintain approved standards of patient care, collaborating with appropriate persons for continuity of care under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Communicate clinical issues, as they relate to service or program development, to the CNO.
  • Promote clinical development, competency and expertise in staff to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate performance of professional and non-licensed nursing personnel.
  • Interview prospective staff.
  • Assure that all staff are accountable for documenting care provided, patient family teaching and discharge planning on patients to which they are assigned.
  • Contribute to the smooth functioning of the unit by providing direction to staff, other departments, and families as needed.
