About The Position

Provides leadership for the Neonatal Intensive Care and is responsible for directing and overseeing the multidisciplinary care team to maintain standards of patient care for the neonatal population. Managing, as appropriate the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the NIC. Serves as a liaison to administration and represents the NIC on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal department care management. The Nurse Manager will have assistance and support from the Perinatal Certification Interdisciplinary Team to maintain Advanced Perinatal Certification from The Joint Commission. The Nurse Manager will work closely with the Administrative Director and Director for Maternal Child Services, Pediatric Nurse Manager, Birthplace Nurse Manager, NIC Medical Director and Patient Quality Services. This includes all departments affiliated with NIC patients in the planning, development, and implementation of the neonatal program goals and operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
  • 3 years Nursing experience. Required
  • 1 year Supervising or managing others. Required
  • Knowledge/understanding of the department standards related to the care of the acutely ill or injured patient. Demonstrated success in clinical practice and team building. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to lead through influence in a complex system environment. (Required proficiency)
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and delegate work assignments; to set priorities and accomplish a wide variety of tasks. (Required proficiency)
  • Knowledge of the administrative, professional and clinical organization of Stormont-Vail Health. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Director and other department physicians and staff. (Required proficiency)
  • Registered Nurse - KSBN A multistate license with the ability to practice within the State of Kansas is also accepted. Required

  • Able to maintain, make adjustments, and communicate position control.
  • Accountable to developing staff through education and competencies.
  • Responsible for staff performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback and ongoing coaching.
  • Maintains appropriate standards for discipline and termination in collaboration with the Director.
  • Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health
  • Performs other duties as assigned
