Emergency Department Nurse Manager - Middletown, DE Are you ready to take your nursing leadership to the next level? At our cutting-edge stand-alone Middletown Emergency Department, we're looking for a passionate and experienced leader to lead a high-performing team in delivering exceptional care to our community. The state-of-the-art full-service free-standing emergency department features: 18 treatment rooms. Staffing by board-certified emergency physicians and emergency nurses 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. Serving the most frequent emergency care needs. Dedicated on-site laboratory with walk-in hours from 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dedicated imaging services.

Requirements

  • RN from an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN and Master's Degree (or BS + MSN).
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical and leadership experience.
  • Professional certification in a nursing specialty (required).
  • Nurse Executive Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Identifies priorities of leadership and management responsibilities and demonstrates the ability to delegate.
  • Enables a relationship based care approach to care delivery on assigned unit.
  • Performs routine leader rounds on patients and caregivers on assigned unit to establish visibility, teamwork, and monitoring the level of care/practice.
  • Supports and communicates department and unit-based quality and safety initiatives.
  • Manages nursing practice and care delivery in designated unit.
  • Promotes the autonomy of the nursing staff, encouraging independent decision making and problem solving.
  • Supports and facilitates a culture of nursing professional governance on unit.
  • Formulates and effectively executes innovative leadership strategies to promote excellence.
  • Responsible for staffing and scheduling, allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for unit census.
  • Maintains position control in a cost-effective manner.
  • Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of staff.
  • Coaches, disciplines and evaluates staff according to CCHS policy.
  • Maintains accurate employee files, including licensure of professional staff.
  • Plans, holds and documents monthly staff meetings, communicating all appropriate information.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the unit budget in collaboration with the Director/VP of Patient Care Services.
  • Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships among departments to ensure effective value and quality patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrates and promotes positive interpersonal communication skills all the time.
  • Maintains a cooperative and collaborative working relationship with unit based Medical Director.
