About The Position

A leading acute care hospital in the Irving, TX area is seeking a dynamic and experienced Nurse Manager to provide 24/7 leadership for the Medical-Surgical department. This role is responsible for overseeing departmental operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and aligning team performance with the hospital’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with proven management or supervisory experience in an acute care Med/Surg setting and a passion for team development and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required)
• Active Texas RN license or RN Compact License (eNLC compliant)
• Previous recent Department Director or Nurse Manager experience required
• Strong Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) experience may be considered for candidates ready to transition into a Manager role
• Minimum of 2+ years of recent acute care Medical-Surgical experience required

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 leadership and oversight of all departmental functions
• Align clinical, operational, and financial systems to support departmental performance and growth
• Monitor business trends and adjust staffing and operational strategies accordingly
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
• Oversee day-to-day department operations including:
• Payroll management
• Hiring and onboarding
• Staff scheduling
• Performance evaluations
• Counseling, mentoring, and coaching
• Orientation and competency validation for new and existing staff
• Ensure high standards of patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance
• Support financial stewardship and resource management initiatives
