About The Position

Infection Prevention & Control Officer with RCM CoverageFull-Time, Salaried PositionLocation: The Dalles Oregon Veterans Home We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at The Dalles Oregon Veterans Home. The main responsibility in this position will be the management and maintenance of the Infection Control Program within the organization and RCM coverage for vacation, bereavement, sick time, and/or other extended types of leave. You will play a vital leadership role in coordinating a high-quality infection control program for our honored veterans, their families, and staff alike. Requirements

  • Active Oregon RN license
  • Passion for serving the veteran community
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff and residents
  • Ability to lead with empathy, integrity, and clinical expertise
  • Flexible and reliable with excellent organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MDS assessments and skilled nursing care
  • Knowledge of QAPI and related investigative incidents with ability to initiate corrective action as needed
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a long-term care setting
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with care teams and families

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Infection Control Program, including monthly reporting and quarterly QAPI presentations.
  • Conduct infection surveillance, audits, and outbreak management, including coordination with public health authorities.
  • Oversee immunization programs for residents and staff (influenza, COVID-19, pneumococcal, Hepatitis B) and ensure regulatory reporting.
  • Monitor and document infection control metrics and logs, including TB screening, PPD testing, and required state surveys.
  • Develop, implement, and update infection control policies and regulatory compliance initiatives, including antibiotic stewardship.
  • Provide staff education and in-service training on infection prevention practices and emerging guidelines.
  • Ensure proper isolation precautions and management of infectious conditions (e.g., MRSA, C. diff) and sharps/needle stick incidents.
  • Support emergency preparedness and collaborate with leadership to maintain a safe and compliant healthcare environment.
