Brennan 6 is an oncology unit where patients receive chemotherapy, post-op surgical care, and palliative and hospice care.

Requirements

  • Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license required.
  • BSN required; MSN preferred.
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association required.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence with a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required.
  • Oncology nursing experience preferred.
  • Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred.
  • National Certification acceptable to the Magnet Recognition Program and appropriate to your current specialty (within two years of hire).
  • Prior assistant manager or supervisor experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs.
  • Strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers.
  • Exceptional focus on teamwork and dedication to ongoing education.
  • Ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care and service based on a strong sense of patient focus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the organization in the execution of the nursing strategic plan and priorities.
  • Participate in unit and hospital decision-making and provide meaningful recognition to others.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership.
  • Coordinate staffing, support throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care and other departmental activities.
  • Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front-line staff.
  • Interpret, support, and communicate policies, standards and procedures.
  • Serve as a role model for staff in all aspects of nursing (i.e. professionalism, quality care).
  • Identify cost containment measures by identifying alternative measures of product utilization within the department.
  • Serve on-call based on unit requirements.
  • Assume special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
