Requirements

  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • One (1) year of acute care or emergency room RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient throughout all phases of a procedure, from pre-procedure assessment through recovery.
  • Communicate considerations based on history and assessment to the physician.
  • Under the direction of a physician, perform moderate and deep sedation on patients per hospital policy.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and time management in patient care.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies.
  • Assess the patient's condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
  • Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient's self-report and pain symptoms promptly.
  • Utilize an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of medications with regard to action and side effects.
  • Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual.
  • Educate patients and significant others about their medications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
  • Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
  • Provide quality care to patients and work with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
  • May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
