About The Position

Position Summary Provides patient and family focused care within scope of the OR Nurse Intern license, as part of the health care team. Delivers care in accordance with corporate mission, policies, procedures, and department philosophy. Applies current and established standards for professional nursing practice. Qualifications Required: Completed one full year in an accredited Nursing Program. Current Oregon Nurse Intern license. Current certified nursing assistant certification. BLS certification required. Demonstrates patient-centered approach and empathy for patients. Ability to work collaboratively with a team to provide compassionate care. Strong communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

Completed one full year in an accredited Nursing Program.
Current Oregon Nurse Intern license.
Current certified nursing assistant certification.
BLS certification required.
Demonstrates patient-centered approach and empathy for patients.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team to provide compassionate care.
Strong communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
Current Oregon Nurse Intern License
Be able to frequently stoop, bend, and reach.
Must be able to withstand constant walking, standing, lifting at least 50 pounds or more, push/pull regulation hospital equipment, occasional sitting.
Must be able to function during periods of high stress.
Demonstrate knowledge of and practice of safe body mechanics and willing to be flexible, within reason, to meet the staffing needs of an assigned unit.

Responsibilities

All duties will be performed under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
Demonstrates and applies nursing knowledge to patient care.
Applies nursing knowledge in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Demonstrates proficiency in documenting care provided in EMR (Electronic Medical Record) in accordance with policy and procedures.
Seeks assistance and support in unfamiliar clinical situations.
Demonstrates a willingness to be taught, coached, or mentor.
Assesses the patient and implements appropriate nursing actions to meet the patient’s physical, emotional, spiritual, social and intellectual needs; documents those needs with appropriate multidisciplinary approach, in a clear, concise, objective way.
Give medications, IM and SC injections and oral/PO except for intravenous medication pushes including opioids, narcotics, anxiolytics, chemotherapy, and sedatives.
Responds to, anticipates and integrate cultural differences into patient/family care.
Demonstrates ability to identify and solve problems using critical thinking and professional judgment.
Demonstrates an ability to communicate effectively using SBAR to relate pertinent data with physicians and co-workers.
Establishes trusting relationships with patients and family using effective communication.
Reports issues, problems or concerns to the appropriate person and fills out appropriate paperwork. Participates in resolution of problems.
Initiates, supports, modifies and improves nursing practice in providing patient care as departmental goals / objectives change and as nursing practice dictates.
Nurse Intern skills checklist to be carried by nurse intern at all times.
Skills checklist to be updated each shift by RN.
Regularly reviews work in progress to ensure care is proceeding as schedules. Involves patients and families in education and preparation for discharge.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and effectively utilize time management techniques.
Perform duties at all times under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, State and federal laws and regulations.
Keep RN and Charge Nurse aware of changing patient’s needs that may require modification in the plan of care.
Performs other duties as assigned.
