About The Position

Firelands Health is seeking a Nurse Intern for the Med-Surg department, offering a PRN position with 12-24 hours of work per week. This role is designed for student nurses who are within their last 8 weeks of school or have graduated and are awaiting boards in an RN/LPN education program. The Nurse Intern will assist in the delivery of patient care under the direction of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, ensuring adherence to nursing standards, protocols, and evidence-based practices. Requirements

• High school graduate; currently enrolled in an approved RN/LPN program (A.D., diploma, BSN).
• Must complete nurse intern competency checklist.
• Must be currently certified in CPR (and recertified bi-annually).
• Commitment to an RN or LPN position at Firelands Health.

Responsibilities

• Provides care for patients according to nursing standards, protocols, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
• Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients and assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Administers routine treatments and communicates patient information effectively.
• Documents patient information using the 'OPIE' documentation process, limited to observations and interventions with RN/LPN review.
• Charges equipment and supplies as needed.
• Communicates with other health team members, patients, and visitors, maintaining good guest relations and adaptability.
• Participates as a unit team member and reports problems, demonstrating service excellence.
