About The Position

The Nurse Intern in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Henry Ford Health St. John Hospital provides direct nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in or accepted into a nursing program, allowing them to gain practical experience in a critical care environment. The intern will assist with patient care activities, document observations, and support the development of care plans while adhering to established protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be accepted or enrolled in a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of hire/transfer.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a nurse.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Take and record vital signs.
• Observe patient status and document observations.
• Report observations to the preceptor or appropriate staff.
• Assist in the development of care plans by reporting test results and patient observations.
• Perform other assigned tasks, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.
