About The Position

This position is located at Bayne Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Polk, Louisiana. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is an employed civilian Nurse (Inpatient Clinical/OB/GYN) position that affords job security, a competitive base salary, bonuses, moving expenses, full malpractice coverage, up to 26 days paid vacation, 11 days paid Federal Holidays, a sick leave benefit, CME opportunities, and a first-class health and retirement benefit package.

Requirements

• US Citizenship.
• A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
• One or more full years of professional nursing experience which includes providing nursing care to obstetrical and gynecological patients, administering medications, and providing education to patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive professional nursing care to OB/GYN patients and their newborns.
• Serve as subject matter expert and consultant for nursing staff and healthcare teammates in other areas of the hospital.
• Serve as Charge Nurse on a rotational basis.
• Develop nursing care plans and procedures, set standards of care, prescribe special care and identify specific nursing problems for all patients.
• Review medication orders and verify any side effects, allergies, contraindications, and continued treatment needs with the patient in accordance with (IAW) DoD, Defense Health Agency (DHA), and local instructions.
• Provide perioperative care to include serving as the circulating RN for cesarean sections and additional obstetric surgical procedures as needed.
