About The Position

The Nurse Informaticist at Fairview Range is responsible for managing and enhancing the use of clinical electronic documentation systems. This role involves planning and implementing education for clinical staff, ensuring compliance with documentation standards, and promoting patient safety through effective use of electronic medical records. The Nurse Informaticist serves as a liaison between Information Systems personnel and end-users, providing ongoing analysis and support for clinical software applications.

Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum four years' experience in acute care nursing utilizing a variety of automation tools (software)
  • Minnesota Registered Nurse licensure
  • Certified in Health Care Informatics (CHCI) or Certified Professional in Electronic Health Records (CPEHR)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing
  • One to two years' experience working in clinical information systems area
  • Experience in education program planning, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and marketing

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge related to the use of clinical electronic documentation systems.
  • Plan and implement initial and ongoing education for clinical staff using the electronic medical records system.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis, management, and evaluation of the effective use of the electronic record.
  • Monitor compliance with required documentation and promote practices that enhance patient safety.
  • Utilize clinical practice knowledge to determine suitable clinical functions for computer application.
  • Recommend and document procedural changes.
  • Consult with staff as a liaison between Information Systems personnel and end-users.
  • Perform comparative analysis of system design to user requirements in the clinical area.
  • Assist with the creation of reference and course materials for staff training.
  • Maintain knowledge of data security and integrity within clinical information systems.
  • Act as the first point of contact for end-user issues related to information system performance.
  • Share responsibility for ongoing support of clinical software applications with other clinical system coordinators.
  • Research, document, and facilitate resolutions to issues reported by end-users.
  • Identify system requirements in clinical areas and assist others as needed.
