About The Position

The Staff Nurse Fellow is a registered nurse who provides highly professional and technical nursing care to assigned patients. This role involves both direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse will direct and supervise other assigned team members and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure age and developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit standards. The position supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
• Minimum one year experience as RN in any specialty area.
• Knowledgeable about hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Emergency Department or Surgical Services.
• Completion of ACLS certification class during the fellowship.
• Completion of PALS certification class for Emergency Department fellows.
• Completion of TNCC class for Emergency Department fellows.
• Completion of NRP class for Maternal Child Nursing fellows.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care using the nursing process.
• Direct and supervise other assigned team members.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
• Ensure age and developmentally appropriate care.
• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families.
• Create and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Administer medications and IVs safely and accurately.
• Take personal responsibility for performance and professional growth.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
