About The Position

The Nurse Externship Summer Program at Oklahoma Heart Hospital offers nursing students a unique, hands-on learning opportunity in a cardiovascular environment. This program is designed for students graduating in December 2025 or May 2026, allowing them to gain invaluable experience in various critical care settings while working under the supervision of experienced Registered Nurses. The externship aims to enhance clinical skills and prepare students for their final year of nursing school and future roles as Registered Nurses.

Requirements

• Completed one (1) year of RN clinicals at an accredited school of nursing.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Laboratory experience.
• Supervising experience.
• 1 year of critical care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of nursing treatments in a cardiovascular environment.
• Utilize state-of-the-art technology and practice assessment skills under the direction of an experienced Registered Nurse.
• Gain experience in the Cath Lab, Critical Care, Emergency Room, Interventional Unit, Progressive Coronary Care Unit, and Surgery.
