Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent; successful completion of fundamentals of nursing course and associated clinical.

Responsibilities

Basic Life Support
Participates in Patient Care Team’s delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient’s spiritual and cultural differences.
Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in delivery of patient care.
Orients patient and family to room, and call bell.
Upon admission, obtains initial vital signs, height and weight.
Records daily I & O, vital signs, and food intake into Conemaugh Connect electronic health record.
Transports patients via appropriate means in a safe, dignified manner. Adheres to patient activity restrictions.
Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and reports patient/family concerns accurately and concisely to appropriate care team members.
Maintains positive interactions with staff on other nursing units and diagnostic testing areas.
Assists members of the health care team with specific tasks that support patient care services.
Screens the patients for pain and promptly reports the complaint of pain to the nurse.
Maintains confidentiality of all patients, hospital and employee related information.
Assists the nurse in providing patient treatments and diagnostic procedures as directed.
Attends CEP (Clinical Excellence Practicum) annually and demonstrates required competencies.
Annual 1:1 education, Handle with care course.
Completes required education and CPR.
Commits to Common Ground Code of Conduct.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities unit and hospital based as directed.
Actively participates in Patient Satisfaction initiatives
Prepares, maintains, applies and removes cardiac monitoring leads.
Responds promptly to calls from Central Monitors, and replaces electrodes/leads/monitor batteries, as needed.
Adheres to patient activity restrictions.
Prepares equipment and cleans equipment after patient use, covers the equipment using a clear plastic bag and tagging with a “clean” sticker.
Adheres to Bloodborne Pathogen guidelines.
Performs the 5 moments of hand hygiene.
