About The Position
Allows the nursing student the opportunity to experience hands on nursing care, utilizing the nursing process, through RN delegation of specific tasks and procedures within the realm of the Nurse Extern, under the direct supervision of the RN. (1 year out from graduation)
Requirements
- Nursing student in an approved nursing program with enrollment in the first Medical Surgical course.
- In the absence of a temporary license due to attendance of an out of state nursing program while waiting to fulfill criteria for taking the Louisiana State Board Examination, a person may be placed in this position. This is applicable as long as the exam is completed within 90 days from the first day of employment in the Nurse Extern position.
- Must commit to a minimum of 2 shifts per schedule to maintain active status.
