About The Position

Nurse Extern Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth - 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104 Work hours PRN, however, Full-Time during the summer (3–12-hour shifts). Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • CNA - Certified Nurses Aide Upon Hire Requried Or
  • PCT Training Program Upon Hire Requried Or
  • Other Junior I or higher level Professional Nursing student with proof of completion on nursing fundamentals. Upon Hire Required And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care per plan of care, including ADLs, technical procedures, and safe risk‑reduction practices.
  • Collects and reports patient data, documenting accurately and entering orders when appropriate.
  • Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Collaborates with nurses to adapt care for patient population needs, cultural/religious preferences, and family expectations.
  • Partners effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, demonstrating flexibility, communication skills, and teamwork.
  • Maintains competency, seeks guidance for unfamiliar tasks, advocates for patients, and follows policies and ethical standards.
  • Supports quality and safety by identifying inefficiencies, participating in improvement efforts, and adhering to National Patient Safety Goals
