About The Position

Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Externship program is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting our exceptional nursing teams. This role allows students to strengthen their clinical skills, enhance patient care knowledge, and prepare for a successful transition into professional nursing practice. This is a developmental program for nursing students who want to develop multiple and varied clinical skills in a multiple nursing specialties. This position requires participation in a guided training and development program aligned to the scope outlines by the State-specific Board of Nursing. Mandatory Nurse Extern New Hire Orientation: Friday, December 12, 2025 8:00 am - 4:00 pm CST.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Nursing Program
• Must have successfully completed Medical-Surgical Nursing I (Med Surg I)

Responsibilities

• Assisting nursing staff with daily patient care activities
• Assisting patients with hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures
• Supporting nurses with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Maintaining a clean and organized patient environment
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes
