About The Position

Under the supervision of licensednursing staff and in accordance with established guidelines, the Nurse ExternII is an active participant in the implementation of individualized patientcare including but not limited to patient vital signs, assisting with personalhygiene/ADLs, feeding, and ambulating patients, and obtaining point-of-careblood glucose monitoring. Nurse Extern II functions at a level above NurseExtern I by performing higher level interventions once competency isattained. This position provides an opportunity for pre-licensure nursingstudents capable of providing entry-level care, to perform a variety of highquality, patient centered interventions for patients with a broad range ofhealth issues. The Nurse Extern II position promotes a jump-start to one'snursing career. This position allows for an environment for increased comfort,familiarity and confidence with patient interactions and a smooth transitioninto practice as a potential new graduate nurse. The Nurse Extern I position isoffered as a Flexible Schedule or Part-time position .

Requirements

• Current enrollment and in good standing with an accredited school of nursing.
• Successful completion ofa critical care nursing course
• Classified as a seniornursing student with an expected graduation date within the next 12-months, mayremain in the position for 6 months after graduation.
• Unofficial transcriptswith a minimum of 3.0 GPA in nursing coursework
• Letter of recommendation from faculty
• Ability to communicate effectively with patientsand their families in a courteous and professional manner.
• CurrentCPR certification required (American Heart Association Healthcare Provideronly).

Nice To Haves

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred; required if assigned tothe TCU.
