The Nurse Extern II works under the observation of a Registered Nurse, completing activities such as daily living assistance, vital sign monitoring, and blood glucose checks. This role involves collaborating with the Registered Nurse to establish patient care plans based on health, education, developmental needs, and patient/family preferences. The extern evaluates patient responses to interventions, communicates observations, develops delegation skills, and administers medication under the Registered Nurse's delegation and supervision. They manage an increased number of patients, incorporate time management principles, collect and synthesize patient data, and participate in emergency situations under appropriate supervision. The position also requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, demonstrating knowledge of age-specific patient care, and understanding growth and development principles across the life span.
