About The Position

The Nurse Extern II position at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI, is part of the 4PV Inpatient Medical/Surgical Unit, which focuses on Women's Health, Gynecology, Gyn/Oncology, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Medicine. This 20-bed unit is dedicated to managing post-surgical inpatient phases and medicine patients, treating conditions such as Ovarian, Endometrial, and Cervical Cancers, Uterine Fibroids, and more. The role involves a 4:1 patient to nurse ratio during the day and 5:1 at night, with opportunities for professional development and a supportive care team aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing or a graduate waiting to retake the NCLEX exam.
• A minimum of two acute care medical-surgical clinical rotations or one medical-surgical rotation and one pertinent clinical rotation.
• At least one clinical rotation must include medication administration.
• Experience of six months or more as a nursing assistant is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification.
• Experience in essential nursing functions.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine care and assist patients with activities of daily living under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Manage post-surgical inpatient phases and medicine patients.
• Assist in the treatment of patients with various conditions and cancers.
• Document patient care and assist in the development of nursing care plans.
