Get to Know Your Team:
UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and acute stroke-ready facility; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit, radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; must be enrolled in an Accredited Nursing Program with an anticipated completion from program within 24 months from date of hire.
• In academic good standing in your Accredited Nursing Program REQUIRED.
• Medical Technology; Anatomy and Physiology
• Must be currently enrolled and in good academic standing in a professional nursing program
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing functions as authorized under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
• In addition, performs basic nursing tasks to include patient care, reporting patient conditions, circumstances, and maintaining equipment and unit cleanliness.
• The nurse extern must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
• Conditions: May be required to work irregular schedules. Potential exposure to hazard materials/situations to include but not limited to, blood-borne pathogens, ionizing radiation, and communicable diseases.
