About The Position

Boise VA Medical Center (BVAMC) is hiring an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN). The Endoscopy RN delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy procedures including both Veteran inpatients and outpatients. The RN's responsibilities will demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex procedural care.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • English Language Proficiency.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of endoscopy experience is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of moderate sedation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes.
  • Maintains proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of endoscopy specific equipment.
  • Delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy procedures including both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Recognizes any changes in patient care situations and initiates appropriate emergency situations.
  • Responsible for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of patient care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction.
  • Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.
  • Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
