This position is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the staff development and educational activities designed to address identified or anticipated needs of learners for assigned area(s). Assures the quality of patient care, and clinical practice progression on assigned cross-campus unit(s) through the assessment, coaching, and development of the nursing staff and collaboration with interdisciplinary care team. This includes all aspects of clinical practice, patient care, workplace safety, and the outcomes of care patients receive. Participates in the development and implementation of educational programs for the entire Nursing Department.

Requirements

  • Three years of direct hospital care experience within the past 8 years.
  • 2 or more years of Peri-Anesthesia nursing experience, preferably in a trauma center.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.
  • Currently holds an active RN license in the State of Massachusetts.
  • Maintains a current BLS instructor card.
  • Must have at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience with at least 1 year experience in clinical preceptor and/or charge nurse role.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation computer software.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Case Manager Certification.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Education, or related healthcare field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in teaching highly desired.
  • Process improvement experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate staff development and educational activities.
  • Ensure quality of patient care and clinical practice progression.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of educational programs for the Nursing Department.
  • Coordinate team huddles to review new admissions and patient progression.
  • Communicate and monitor changes to clinical practice and expectations.
  • Assist in strategic planning and implementation of nursing standards and practices.
  • Participate in interview panels and orientation for new staff.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Coordinate assignment of tasks and resolve operational problems.
