About The Position

We are searching for an Education Coordinator (RN) - someone to provide education and administrative support for unit operations under the supervision of Manager or above and ensure effective and efficient implementation of the various key educational processes at the unit level. Also, assists in the implementation of designated centralized components of the key educational processes. At West Campus, our acute care units provide care for respiratory patients, new and established diabetic patients, pre-op and post-op medical & surgical patients, orthopedic patients, neurologic patients, GI/GU and hematology & oncology patients. Requirements

  • BSN and Licensure with Texas Board of Nursing
  • BLS- American Heart Association
  • 2yrs clinical experience
  • 1yr preceptor experience (highly preferred)
  • Broad knowledge of nursing functions, specific knowledge of patient care activities on assigned unit(s) and knowledge of the 6 key educational processes.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook) is a plus.
  • The ability to perform skills outlined on the staff nurse orientation pathway for assigned unit(s) and skills outlined on the decentralized educator orientation pathway.

Responsibilities

  • Uses organizational policies and procedures, unit-specific performance improvement data and accrediting and regulatory standards to determine performance gaps, as measured by leadership team feedback.
  • Develops and/or implements required unit-specific training that assists in closure of performance gaps, as measured by leadership team feedback.
  • Evaluates, documents, and reports training outcomes.
  • Establishes a process to track and reports compliance and/or attendance for unit\area-specific required training to unit based leadership team by pre-established deadlines, as measured by Leadership team feedback.
  • Obtains feedback from unit leadership and staff regarding development needs for each job/role, as measured by feedback from staff and leadership team.
  • Compiles and analyzes needs assessment data and reports outcomes to leadership team and NURSING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, as measured by feedback from leadership team and NURSING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
  • Assists in analyzing house-wide data, determining needs for centralized development programs and implementing centralized development programs that support identified unit-based needs, as measured by feedback from NURSING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
  • Identifies unit-specific priority development needs and designs and markets a plan to address unit-specific development needs of staff on all shifts, as measured by feedback from staff and Leadership team
  • Implements cost-effective development activities using a variety of interactive learning strategies that increase the competence of staff, as measured by feedback from staff and leadership team.
  • Develops, implements, and sustains a unit-based process for the orientation, professional development, and support of preceptors, as measured by feedback from preceptors, orientees and leadership team.
  • Facilitates feedback, as applicable, to NURSING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT on the effectiveness of the preceptor program as measured by feedback to and from NURSING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
  • Encourages and supports preceptor participation in ongoing centralized development, as measured by attendance records and feedback from preceptors.
  • Coordinates the assignment of orientees to preceptors, serves as a resource for preceptors, and provides coaching and support to preceptors who are dealing with difficult orientee situations, as measured by preceptor and orientee feedback.
  • Assesses learning needs of preceptors and provides coaching and unit-based development sessions to augment centralized curriculum, as measured by preceptor feedback and leadership team observation.
