About The Position

Reporting to the Chief of Hematology/Oncology, the Infusion Nurse Clinician will direct and guide the delivery of patient care, patient and family education and all care-related activities while maintaining and ensuring the maintenance of the standards of professional nursing. The Infusion Nurse Clinician is responsible for the safe and effective administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy according to Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards. Duties and responsibilities include all nursing standards of practice, medication preparation and administration standards, survivorship planning and care coordination, quality assurance & patient experience standards, precepting and interdisciplinary team collaboration as outlined

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Associates degree required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in Infusion Centers or in a Critical Care or Emergency Room.
  • Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Completion of the following Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification:
  • Must complete their ONS membership by the end of week one (1) of hire date.
  • Safe Handling Basics – Completion within 2 weeks of hire date
  • ONS / ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course – Completion within nine (9) months of hire date
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills especially when it comes to speaking and listening.
  • Able to problem solve and effectively communicate with patients and families.
  • Demonstrates emotional stability.
  • Has empathy for the pain and suffering of patients.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a readiness to respond quickly to emergencies and other situations that arise.
  • Shows respect.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Experience with starting and maintaining IV access
  • Prior infusion experience or oncology experience
