About The Position

Join Children's Wisconsin as a Nurse Clinician for our Urology Program! The Urology Program at Children’s Wisconsin provides a full array of state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic services for an extensive range of urological disorders in children of all ages. These include conditions affecting the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and genitalia, as well as disorders of incontinence and urinary tract infections. We value multi-disciplinary, integrated care , leveraging the expertise of internationally recognized specialists to achieve the best possible outcomes for every patient. Join our team as an Ambulatory Nurse Clinician and make a meaningful impact on pediatric urology care. This role promotes optimal wellness through health maintenance, acute illness management, and chronic disease care across the continuum. You’ll work closely with patients and families, providing education, advocacy, and care coordination while collaborating directly with an attending provider.

Requirements

  • Current Wisconsin RN license.
  • Current CPR certification – Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably with chronic and complex family health needs.
  • Developmental approach to care for patients from neonatal through young adult stages.
  • Ability to work with patients with intellectual and physical disabilities.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.
  • Strong critical reasoning, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for sensitive discussions with patients and caregivers.
  • Active listening and therapeutic communication expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with an attending provider during clinic days.
  • Assist with procedural care in the clinic.
  • Deliver pre- and post-operative education to families.
  • Perform necessary testing and coordinate care for scheduled patients.
  • Serve as “Nurse of the Day” once weekly in an office setting.
  • Handle live calls from parents with urgent concerns.
  • Conduct scheduled testing for patients when the provider is not in clinic.
  • Prepare for upcoming clinic days and manage care coordination tasks.
