Expectations We’re seeking an outpatient RN to help work within the Canning Thoracic Institute’s Lung Health Center, the goal of which is to advocate for age-based screening guidelines for lung cancer based on the data collected. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to apply outpatient RN skills, work with research, providers, data, and administration to work toward a common goal. Lung Cancer Screening & Navigation Manage patients enrolled in traditional lung cancer screening programs and those with research indications . Assist in navigating patients through incidental findings , ensuring timely follow-up and coordination with specialists. Collaborate with the Lung Health Team to provide clinical and research support , including data collection and adherence to study protocols. Education & Counseling Educate patients and families on disease management, smoking cessation, and medication adherence. Teach proper inhaler techniques and breathing exercises. Care Coordination Collaborate with pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, and social workers to develop individualized care plans. Facilitate referrals to specialty services and community resources. Community Engagement Participate in awareness events such as health fairs, community education programs, and lung cancer screening outreach initiatives. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with regulatory standards. The Nurse Clinician will work in a multidisciplinary environment which will require exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and administrative units. This position will utilize nursing skills to perform patient assessments via phone or in person and implement nursing interventions; as such the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving patient care issues. Also responsible for initiating & organizing patient education for the population this unit serves.
