About The Position

VCU Massey Center is located on the 4th floor at the new Adult Outpatient Pavilion and offers a single point of care for outpatient cancer services to include hematology, medical, surgical and radiation oncology clinics. We are an NCI Cancer Center that offers clinical trials, cutting edge treatments, enhanced imaging and more to provide comprehensive treatment options. Our clinics incorporate shared spaces to support multidisciplinary collaboration to promote the best possible care and treatment options for our patients. Our team shares a common passion for oncology nursing and emphasizes the importance of patient-centered care. The Nurse Clinician demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems. This role assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. The Nurse Clinician provides direction, education, leadership and accountability for program development, implementation and evaluation in area of responsibility. This role includes professional development and empowerment of staff as well as management of resources to promote desired outcomes with attention to quality, efficiency and cost.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state.
  • AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
  • 5 years nursing experience required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in the position's specialty patient population or practice setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, enrolled in a Master's degree program to be completed within 36 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in staff education and professional development (orientation, preceptorship, in-services education, etc.).
  • Academic health care experience.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or a related field.
