About The Position

The position is for an Advanced Beginner Clinician who possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to meet nursing standards for professional practice as specified in the Texas Nurse Practice Act without supervision. The clinician recognizes when assistance is needed and seeks appropriate resources. The practice is characterized by a balance of dependent and interdependent decision-making, focusing on expanding knowledge and skills for the specialty area. The clinician provides patient care through nursing-based practices in accordance with the American Nurses Association Standards of Professional Practice and Professional Performance, valuing specialty unit, nursing, and institutional strategic initiatives and health system goals.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with six months of clinical RN experience.
  • Successful completion of probationary NC I period documented on nursing evaluation tool.
  • Current Registered Nurse license or valid permit to practice in Texas.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the daily care of assigned patients.
  • Identifies nursing diagnoses/patient care needs and develops individual care plans.
  • Executes physician's orders for all assigned patients and administers medications and treatments.
  • Provides basic patient/family instruction and healthcare teaching based on identified learning needs.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prioritizes patient care activities according to skill level and work complexity.
  • Delivers culturally sensitive care and serves as a patient advocate.
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills and competent use of technology in patient care.
  • Participates in unit meetings/activities and supports the philosophy and goals of the unit department.
  • Identifies patient safety concerns and reports appropriately.
  • Completes required specialty specific Competency Based Orientation tools.
