About The Position

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient-centered Nurse Clinical Coordinator to support our Solon, Tipton, and West Branch Family Medicine Clinics. This position provides nursing leadership and oversight for primary and specialized patient care populations that are served within UI Community Clinics and Clinical Outreach. This position functions as a clinical nurse expert for patients and UICC. The nurse will facilitate communications between medical staff, management, patients and/or family to provide excellent customer service. This position will serve as a liaison role to provide the dissemination of information and education to clinical care team. #clinicalcoordinator #UICC #nursecoordinator Key areas of responsibility include: Assists and acts as liaison with supporting new initiatives including new service lines, expanding clinics, adding new providers, etc. Collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals in planning, delivering, and evaluating care for primary and specialty patient populations. Lead nursing personnel in providing specialized patient procedures and care management plans. Lead or participate in evidence-based projects within specialty area and collaborate with the appropriate CPL or NPL staff member to implement practice changes. Provide specialized health education to patients and health profession students. Adhere to internal and regulatory policies and guidelines. Create clinic staffing schedule and represent clinic at daily staffing huddles; trouble-shoot staffing gaps and identify solutions. Assists with reviewing benefit requests in time tracking system. Participate in recruitment, developing, and managing performance of staff. Applies expertise in communicating real time feedback and direction to clinical staff. Serves as a liaison between clinical staff, family members, and UICC leadership. Applies expertise in specialized field to improve nursing outcomes, leads and participates in evidence-based projects, and implements team-based care. Troubleshooting and managing facility issues in real time. Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives. Provides direct patient care/nurse triage responsibilities as needed, floating to other clinics as needed. Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards Other clinic duties as assigned Department Summary: University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) provides comprehensive care to Iowa communities. With 38 community clinics, including Quick Cares and Urgent Cares, Family Medicine, and multiple Specialties, UICC is home to providers and staff that provide comprehensive care outside of the hospital setting and give the community a sense of care whenever they need it most.

Requirements

  • A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required
  • 1-3 years of nursing experience is required
  • Valid license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical hours/need.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in patient care, particularly those with ambulatory specialty, family med or pediatrics
  • Demonstrated leadership and training skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and health care workers
  • Professional nursing certification is desired
  • Familiarity with UI Health Care and ambulatory clinic workflows
