About The Position

Nurse Case Managers support the Pennsylvania Army National Guard (PAARNG) by managing Soldier care until a final disposition is made by the PAARNG. Maintains medical and dental records in accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 40-66 while adhering to proper HIPAA laws for medical record organization and management. Nurse Case Managers must have at least 2 years of clinical experience. A valid Pennsylvania State Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician Assistant (PA) License is required and it must be maintained for the duration of employment. A background in case management, occupational health, and Military experience is preferred. Must have the expertise as dictated by the “practice of nursing” – the systematic application of substantial specialized knowledge and skills derived from the biological, physical, and behavioral sciences to understand the care, treatment, counsel, and health teaching of individuals who are experiencing changes in their normal health process or who require assistance in the maintenance of health and the prevention or management of illness, injury, or disability. Must be experienced in all aspects of the practice of nursing. Maintain Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) standards and guidelines. Track medical status of all Soldiers and ensure those referred by a provider are entered into case management. Works with an Administrative Assistants to report medical information to the Military or Government Clinicians. Manages Soldier care from the identification of the condition to when the Soldier is either (1) considered medically ready, or (2) administratively separated from the military. Report Medical Readiness to the Commander or their designated representative monthly. Submit case processing, medical documentation, and profile concerns to military/contracted provider. Provide case manager services at Medical Readiness Events (MRE) as determined by the needs of the state and units which may require occasional weekend hours and potential travel. Educate Soldiers on resources available to improve medical and dental readiness. Track, schedule and follow up on automated referrals indicated in MEDCHART. Requirements

  • 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Valid Pennsylvania State Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician Assistant (PA) License
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Capable of obtaining favorable background checks
  • Proficient and professional in written and verbal communications
