While CRNAs licensure affords them the same independent practicing rights as their MD colleagues, the CRNAs at UCSF work collaboratively with UCSF's Anesthesiologists to form an Anesthesia Care Team. UCSF CRNAs are licensed, registered, advanced-practice nurses whom, after obtaining experience as a Critical Care Nurse, completed a post-graduate master's or doctoral degree focusing on anesthesia practice. We provide anesthesia services at all the UCSF medical center campuses to a variety of patients across the life span. Additionally, UCSF CRNAs provide a positive learning experience for those students completing clinical rotations from the Samuel Merritt University's, nurse anesthetist program. The CRNAs at UCSF are proud to continue the 150 year practice of nurse anesthesia in collaboration with UCSF's Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care.
