The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides comprehensive anesthesia care (general anesthesia, procedure-related sedation, and regional techniques) in collaboration with the medically-directed anesthesiologist who is directly available during the entire course of anesthesia at all LLUMC and LLUMC affiliated sites. The CRNA determines age-specific (neonatal through later adult) anesthesia plans prior to induction and communicates effectively throughout the anesthetic episode. They apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expand their knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus on anesthesia care. The CRNA utilizes discretion and independent judgment in the delivery of whole-person care, practices within the CRNA scope of practice, and follows LLUMC policies, protocols, techniques, guidelines, and state and federal regulations. They utilize interpersonal skills to maximize excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism, contributing to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. The CRNA performs other duties as needed.
