About The Position

Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School (AoH), a leader in adult education since 1985, is seeking a Nurse Aide Training (NAT) Program Instructor to join our Healthcare Pathways team at our Ward 5 campus. This role is ideal for a mission-driven Registered Nurse educator who is passionate about adult learning, workforce development, and preparing learners for eaningful careers as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). The Nurse Aide Training Instructor serves as the primary educator and mentor for students enrolled in the NAT Program. The instructor delivers high-quality instruction in classroom, skills lab, and clinical settings while ensuring compliance with DC Board of Nursing, state, and federal requirements. The role emphasizes instructional excellence, student retention, and workforce readiness for adult learners.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia (in good standing)
  • Minimum two (2) years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years
  • At least one (1) year of teaching, clinical instruction, or workforce training experience
  • Completion of a Train-the-Trainer or adult education course, or documented experience teaching adult learners and supervising nursing assistants
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DC Board of Nursing Nurse Aide Training (NAT) requirements
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and data tracking tools (Excel preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse adult learners and maintain confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience teaching in a Nurse Aide Training (NAT), CNA, or allied health workforce program
  • Experience in adult education or workforce development settings
  • Demonstrated success supporting student retention, certification pass rates, and workforce outcomes
  • Experience coordinating clinical placements and mentoring instructors or healthcare trainees
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, student information systems, and compliance-driven programs

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate classroom instruction, skills labs, and clinical experiences aligned with regulatory standards
  • Conduct daily pre- and post-conferences to reinforce learning objectives and clinical reflection
  • Track and evaluate student attendance, progress, skill competency, and retention
  • Maintain accurate, confidential student records in SIS and Schoology
  • Support students with state exam registration and credentialing processes
  • Ensure compliance with DC Board of Nursing, OSHA, HIPAA, and NAT program standards
  • Coordinate with clinical partners and AoH staff to support effective clinical placements
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment
  • Participate in department meetings, committees, and continuous program improvement
  • Precept and support new NAT instructors as assigned
