About The Position

Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a skilled nursing facility dedicated to caring for the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Veterans. The mission is to serve Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. The center is seeking a self-motivated, energetic Nurse Aide who is passionate about caring for Kentucky's Veterans.

Requirements

• Have an active status as a nurse aide on the KBN Nurse Aide Registry.
• Possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing.
• Maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personnel hygiene such as bathing, dental and oral care, and hair and nail care.
• Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions by escorting to the bathroom, providing bedpan or portable commodes.
• Check and record intake and output flow charts.
• Assist with meals and nourishments for residents requiring assistance and restorative dining.
• Perform total physical care to include assisting with meals, as well as helping to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of our Veterans.
• Measure and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respirations, height, as instructed.
• Collect and label specimens for laboratory analysis.
