The Nurse Aide II assists in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. This role involves maintaining a clean, safe patient environment and performing job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Nurse Aide II is responsible for supporting patients/residents with activities of daily living, assisting with personal hygiene, taking vital signs, and measuring height and weight. Other duties include feeding and ambulating patients/residents, maintaining orderly patient rooms, observing and reporting changes in patient conditions, and orienting patients/families to the unit while instructing on safety measures. The position also involves clerical work such as answering phones, entering data, and maintaining medical records, as well as managing stock supply items. Technical tasks, with appropriate training, include administering 12-Lead Electrocardiogram tests and routine venipuncture, all performed as outlined in the scope of Nurse Aide II per the North Carolina Board of Nursing Nurse Aide II Tasks List. The role requires maintaining clinical and professional competencies relevant to the patient population served.
