About The Position

The Nurse Aide I position at Atrium Health Pineville, within the Med/Surg department, is a full-time day shift role. This role is crucial in supporting patients with their daily living activities, personal hygiene, and mobility, including feeding and ambulation according to specific procedures. Responsibilities extend to monitoring patient conditions by taking vital signs, measuring height and weight, and observing and reporting any changes. The Nurse Aide I is also responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly patient environment, orienting patients and their families to the unit, and instructing them on safety measures. Additionally, the role involves clerical tasks such as answering phones, data entry, and maintaining medical records, as well as managing stock supplies. The position requires adherence to the duties outlined in the applicable state Board of Nursing Nurse Aide I Tasks List and may include performing technical tasks like administering 12-Lead Electrocardiogram tests and routine venipuncture after receiving appropriate training. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles and possess skills and competency suitable for diverse patient populations across various ages, cultures, developmental stages, and special needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required for new hires on or after 7/22/2018.
  • Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms.
  • Must have manual and finger dexterity.
  • Physical abilities testing required.

Responsibilities

  • Supports patients/residents with activities of daily living.
  • Assists patients/residents with personal hygiene.
  • Takes vital signs and height and weight measurements.
  • Feeds and ambulates patients/residents according to specific procedures.
  • Maintains patient/resident's rooms in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient/resident conditions.
  • Orients patients/families to unit and instructs patient on safety measures.
  • Assists with clerical work such as, including answering phones, entering data and maintaining medical records.
  • Maintains stock supply items in inventory management.
  • Performs duties as outlined in the scope of Nurse Aide I (per applicable state Board of Nursing Nurse Aide I Tasks List).
  • Perform technical tasks with appropriate training such as administering a 12- Lead Electrocardiogram test and routine venipuncture.
