The Nurse Aid (NA) provides services to assigned patients in accordance with care plans, facility policies and procedures and at the direction of supervisor(s). Maintains established hospital policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and protocols Maintains a clean, safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards. Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice. Meets communication needs of patients. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant. Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications. Assist with orientation of new employees Use proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to patients and meet the physical demands of the position. Reports changes in a patient’s condition to the patient’s nurse and/or supervisor. Maintains a working knowledge of all equipment used in treatment of patients Maintains and replaces supplies on unit assigned. As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency. Performs other duties as assigned, within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice.   • Must be able to relay information concerning a patient’s condition.
  • May be subject to hostile or emotional patients, family members, visitors or personnel.
  • Must possess leadership, supervisory ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Communicates with medical and nursing staff, and other departments.
  • Subject to call-back during emergency conditions.
  • Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate electronic medical record systems.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends holidays when necessary.
  • In-depth knowledge of long-term care practices and protocols.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registered as an Unlicensed Assistant Personnel (UAP) or completion within three (3) months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willing to obtain
  • 1 year prior experience in ER/Med-Surg preferred but not required.
