About The Position

Responsible for overseeing the care of Oncology patients as a dominant aspect of the role and is recognized as an interdisciplinary leader within his/her specialty. Responsible for enacting standards of practice and standards of professional performance, consistently demonstrates the core competencies of advanced practice oncology nursing as well as defined specialty competencies.Work requires knowledge of Oncology theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a master’s degree in nursing and three to five years of previous work related experience. Licensure required as a Registered Nurse by the State of New Jersey. Certification required as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Successful completion of department specific orientation and department specific certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) within one year of hire.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Oncology theories, principles, and concepts normally acquired through completion of a master’s degree in nursing and three to five years of previous work related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Works in a normal patient care area or office environment where there are relatively few physical discomforts due to dust, dirt, noise and the like.
  • Works with equipment or performs procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises or muscle pulls.
  • Works in an area in which there is exposure to radiation which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.
  • Work requires exposure to blood and various body fluids which requires caution and use of established safety guidelines and equipment.
  • Lifting objects weighting more than 100 pounds.
  • Standing for more than two hours at a time.
  • Stooping or bending
  • Manual dexterity - reach and grasp objects
  • Color vision - the ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to hear and communicate orally
  • Pushing or pulling supply carts
  • Proofreading and checking documents for accuracy
  • Using a keyboard to enter and transform words or data
  • Using a video display terminal to receive or audit information or data
