About The Position

The NC Programmer will support our fabrication operations by developing and optimizing CNC programs for sheet metal and cooper related to the fabrication processes. This role focuses on improving nesting efficiency, ensuring accurate and efficient machine operation, and contributing to troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives across the fabrication area. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and able to collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and production teams.

Requirements

  • Exp Experience programming CNC machines used in fabrication (e.g., laser cutting, punching, routing, bending).
  • Proficiency with CAM/Nesting software (e.g., SigmaNEST, ProNest, Mastercam, TruTops, CAD/CAM systems).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D CAD models.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and tooling.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering and fabrication teams in a production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for fabrication equipment (e.g., lasers, turret punches, press brakes, routers, or other CNC machinery).
  • Create efficient nesting layouts to minimize waste and maximize production throughput.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to generate accurate programs and tool paths.
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams to resolve programming, tooling, or machine-related issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting when programs do not produce expected results, adjusting parameters as needed.
  • Maintain organized documentation of programs, process changes, tooling setups, and revisions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce waste, and improve cycle times.
  • Work with engineering and production planning to ensure manufacturability and production readiness of parts.
  • Assist in developing standard work instructions, best practices, and programming guidelines.
