About The Position

We are hiring a Nuclear Reactor Engineer at Davis-Besse Power Station. Our Reactor Engineers are highly motivated individuals with excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills. We are seeking a dedicated individual with a passion for clean nuclear power to join our team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Nuclear) from an ABET accredited program
  • Minimum 6 yrs. relevant job experience
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in technical matters related to reactor safety and other engineering support aspects including an understanding of reactivity, instrumentation, computer networks, and transient evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and priority setting as well as the ability to perform assigned tasks with limited supervision.
  • Team - work and collaboration skills across organizational boundaries
  • Able to communicate complex issues effectively through written and verbal communication
  • Able to influence by establishing effective working relationships across organizational boundaries
  • In-depth understanding of power plant equipment and system interrelationships.
  • Able to evaluate technical alternatives in light of their economic contribution to the business
  • Able to apply systematic problem - solving processes to address complex issues

Nice To Haves

  • Specific experience in Nuclear is viewed favorably.
  • Reactor Core operation and testing, new fuel receipt, and nuclear fuel management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and completing assigned activities to support timely implementation of required plant operations.
  • Interfacing with customers to identify needs and providing engineering solutions to facilitate operational effectiveness.
  • Monitoring reactor core operation and performing applicable testing, including startup physics testing.
  • Developing reactivity plans for power maneuvers.
  • Providing control room support during power changes and advising Operations on reactor operations.
  • Interfacing with and coordinating activities performed by internal and external engineering organizations and consulting service companies.
  • Supporting / Performing new fuel receipt and tracking special nuclear material.
  • Preparing and reviewing procedures associated with reactor core operation and nuclear fuel management.
  • Working independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Performing Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties as assigned.
