About The Position

The Instructor for Nuclear Power Test Engineer School must have the ability to multi-task in order to develop and instruct Nuclear Power training material to support Naval Reactors Code 08 guidelines for the qualification of Reactor Plant Test Engineers. Other responsibilities include: Develop and instruct Reactor Plant Electronic and Instrumentation Systems, Reactor Plant Fluid Systems, Reactor Physics and Reactor dynamics, Radiological Controls and Chemistry and Reactor Plant Operations to support Reactor Plant Test Engineering qualification; Develop and instruct Power Plant engineering training programs; Develop and instruct non-nuclear ship systems training programs; and Develop and instruct ship systems training for all classes of submarines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience in nuclear power
  • Experience as a technical instructor in a classroom environment
  • Naval Nuclear Training and experience including qualification as Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) OR Engineering Watch Supervisor (EWS) OR shipyard STE
  • Proficiency in Desktop computer skills consisting of management of computer files over LAN and local databases, typing and formatting of lesson plans, and creating electronic presentations
  • Reactor Plant Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, Radiological Controls/Chemistry and Reactor Physics & Dynamics experience
  • Detailed subject matter expertise; successful candidate must be able to demonstrate depth of detailed knowledge in subject matter.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical education/training or college degree
  • Qualified military instructor or American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) or equivalent certification
  • Virginia Class Submarine qualifications desired. Los Angeles Class, Trident Class and/or SEAWOLF Class Submarine qualification considered.
