About The Position

The Nuclear Plant Program Specialist is a contract position focused on developing and implementing administrative programs for the Kemmerer Power Station. This remote role involves creating and streamlining programs that support plant operations and maintenance, ensuring procedural quality, and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve high-quality results.

Requirements

  • 10 years of commercial nuclear power plant experience in operations, maintenance, or engineering.
  • 5 years of experience writing nuclear plant procedures, including 2 years with administrative program procedures.
  • 2 years of leadership experience as a team lead, supervisor, or manager.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear plant systems and terminology.
  • Proven ability to interpret nuclear standards and ensure strict procedural compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with software-based procedure tools or computer-based procedures.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to procedural excellence.
  • Self-motivated problem-solver capable of innovative thinking with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates integrity, teamwork, open communication, and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Familiarity with the impact of organizational decisions on regulatory compliance and public trust.
  • Thrives in situations involving emergent changes to design, procedures, or schedules during plant construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain expertise in plant design, operations, and technical disciplines to produce effective, high-quality procedures.
  • Establish and uphold standards for writing and revising administrative and operating procedures, including supporting software implementation.
  • Utilize software tools to create electronic workflows, facilitating the review, approval, and transfer of procedures to document management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline plant programs and implement process improvements.
  • Create, organize, and track administrative procedures and programs for the site.
  • Assist in selecting qualified personnel to support procedure and program development.
  • Provide guidance and coordination for geographically diverse teams of procedure writers and program owners.
  • Ensure high-quality procedures that reduce the risk of safety or human performance issues using established industry practices.
  • Deliver training and mentorship on procedure and program development standards.
  • Engage with industry peers, vendors, NEI, and other organizations to explore innovative methods and technologies.
  • Implement regulatory review processes (e.g., 10CFR50.59, 10CFR72.48).
  • Coordinate cross-disciplinary reviews and database integration activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, NRC regulations, INPO criteria, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Incorporate regulatory updates, design changes, and operational feedback into procedures.
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of auditable procedure development records.
  • Define software requirements to support new programs and processes.
  • Support departmental goals and budgeting activities alongside the Procedure and Program Development Manager.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to meet procedural development schedules.
