About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist position at Roane Medical Center involves performing routine and specialized diagnostic imaging procedures as defined by physicians. The role requires technical expertise in operating imaging equipment and ensuring quality control. The technologist will collaborate with clinical staff, maintain radiation safety standards, and handle radiopharmaceuticals safely. The position also includes educating and training new staff and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must have successfully completed an educational program accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the NMTCB or ARRT.
  • Documentation of training/competency checklist.
  • Authorization to inject radiopharmaceuticals notice signed by an authorized user.
  • Licensure Requirement: ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification within 1 year.
  • State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine diagnostic imaging procedures through technical expertise of equipment and procedure protocol.
  • Evaluates equipment performance, initiates corrective action when necessary, and maintains records for the quality control program of gamma camera imaging systems.
  • Collaborates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Completes and verifies accurate informed consents.
  • Maintains established radiation safety standards to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in the safe handling, security, and storage of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Obtains biological samples to perform testing as required for optimization of patient care.
  • Educates, trains, orients, and assists new staff members.
  • Assists licensed independent practitioner with interventional procedures.
  • Stays current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and performs BLS as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
