About The Position

Responsible for Nuclear Medicine and PET examinations; providing compassionate patient care in a high volume, fast paced environment to patients of all ages; contributing to the efficient operation of the department, as well as ensuring quality and continuity of patient care.

Requirements

  • ARRT/NMTCB Certification including mandatory continuing education credits; registered in NYS.
  • Knowledge of applicable patient positioning and technique selections for modality.
  • Able to stand on feet for extended period of time.
  • Excellent customer service skills with ability to professionally communicate orally and in the written form.
  • Basic Lifting as required, not to exceed 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time with the ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Provided professional, positive and caring attitude throughout entire patient encounter.
  • Work with and assist a wide range of individuals in a variety of situations.
  • Listen to and resolve patient questions, comments and concerns.
  • Perform requested diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in an accurate, efficient and timely manner, as outlined in both the Nuclear Medicine Department & PET/CT Procedure Manual.
  • Demonstrate competency and proficiency in:
  • Radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration
  • Maintaining the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) Principle
  • Proper patient positioning and technique
  • Preparing studies for presentation to the Radiologist
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and their family members, team members, supervisors, managers and Radiologists.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and a positive attitude towards all other departments, patients and referring physicians.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding patient dosage and administration, as well as receipt, ordering and disposal of radioactive materials.
  • Perform daily radioactivity room survey and weekly wipe testing.
  • Maintain quality assurance records on imaging and non-imaging equipment in accordance with NYS DOH as specified with current radioactive materials license.
  • Attends quarterly department meetings and the Annual Radiation Safety meeting as well as complete the annual radiation safety training.
  • Annually review and critique Nuclear Medicine Quality Assurance Manual, Infection Control Manual, Therapeutic Policy Manual, Nuclear Medicine Policy and Procedures Manual and PET/CT Procedure Manual.
  • Understand and adhere to department Policy & Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain clean, organized and safe exam area and control room.
  • Adhere to and uphold New York State Sanitary Code Chapter 1, Part 16, regarding use of ionizing radiation.
  • Immediately notify department manager of any problems relating to safety, equipment or patients.
  • Maintain Preventative maintenance and service records for all equipment.
  • Adhere to and uphold all HIPAA and New York State regulations regarding patient privacy as well as standards of ethics set forth by Windsong Radiology Group.
  • All other temporary and/or permanent duties as assigned by Administrator or Manager.
